Ambleside is 3 hours away from Durban and 23km outside Underberg.

 

Two self catering options are offered - The Lodge (8 sleeper) and The Cottage (8 sleeper). Ambleside boasts a small dam with a shady gazebo and magnificent views looking out towards the setting sun and the Castle End mountain range. The Lodge and Cottage are very private, and comfortable, and take advantage of their elevation and panoramic views of the valley, streams, and mountain range.  Both the Cottage and the Lodge have spacious garden areas ideal for families and friend to relax, unwind, and soak up the berg atmosphere. 

The spectacular Southern Drakensberg is a setting that can be enjoyed in both the summer and winter months. Spend your days relaxing next to the dam while reading a book, going for hikes, or enjoying a glass of wine next to the fire. Those looking for a more energetic holiday can hike, run, mountain bike, or tube in the crisp and refreshing river. The valley has a host of activities on offer that can be enjoyed by the whole family, with the Gooderson Drakensberg Gardens Golf and Spa Resort a mere 5 minutes' drive away. The nearby town of Underberg is also very quaint with its cozy coffee and gift shops making for a fun morning out.
